How we make money

The Crypto Economy is free to read. This page lists the ways the site can earn money, and for each of them the rule that keeps it away from what our articles say about the companies we cover.

Affiliate links

Some articles may link to providers that pay a commission when a reader opens an account. An article with affiliate links says so in a notice at the top, and each of those links is marked as sponsored in the page code. A commission never decides which providers an article covers, in what order, or how it describes their fees and licenses. As of November 2026 there are none.

Partner content

Companies can pay to publish a partner article. It carries a “Partner content” label, it is kept apart from the newsroom’s own articles, and it is never presented as our reporting.

Featured event listings

Listing an event in the crypto events calendar is free, and every listing is checked against the organizer’s official site before it appears. Organizers can pay for a featured listing, which sits at the top of the calendar and of its city page and is labeled as sponsored.

Newsletter sponsorship

The weekly newsletter can carry one sponsor message. It is marked as such.

What money cannot buy here

No payment changes what an article says about a provider. A partner cannot buy a better description of its fees or licenses, a place in a comparison, the removal of a correction, or coverage in the news sections. If a company we write about also pays the site for something, the article says so.
